🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi R8 (4S, 2015–)

  • Opens: refrigerant (A/C)

Don't miss

  • Align receiver (E) so that refrigerant lines (B, C) are not under tension and do not make contact anywhere.

📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ Danger from escaping pressurised refrigerant.Frostbite on skin and other parts of the body.Extract the refrigerant and then immediately open up the refrigerant circuit.Extract the refrigerant again if more than 10 minutes have passed since the initial extraction and the refrigerant circuit has not been opened up. Renewed evaporation leads to the build-up of pressure in the refrigerant circuit. — Switch off ignition.
  2. Remove luggage compartment liner (with cowl panel trim) General body repairs, interior70Luggage compartment trim panels; Overview of fitting locations - luggage compartment trim panels.
  3. Discharge refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant circuit; Working with the air conditioner service station).
  4. Remove bolts (A) and detach refrigerant lines (B, C).
  5. Seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung setVAS 6122.

  1. Remove bolts (D) (or bolts (F)).
  2. Remove receiver (E) (or receiver (E) with bracket (G)). [Note: Depending on the vehicle version, different versions of receiver (E) are fitted Electronic parts catalogue. When it has been removed, the receiver (E) contains refrigerant oil which must be returned to the refrigerant circuit (with the new receiver (E)). Adjustment of the oil quantity depends on the nature of the complaint. If, for example, receiver (E) has been damaged in an accident (no loss of refrigerant, no ingress of moisture and dirt into refrigerant circuit), air conditioner can be serviced by weighing old and new receiver (E) without the need for extensive repair work. Add refrigerant oil to the new receiver (E) until it is the same weight as the removed receiver Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Renewing components of refrigerant circuit.Keep new receivers (E) closed for as long as possible, only remove the caps immediately before installing the refrigerant lines (the receiver (E) contains a desiccant bag which soon becomes saturated with moisture and hence unusable when the receiver is open). If, for example, an indeterminate amount of refrigerant oil has escaped or if dirt and moisture have ingressed into the refrigerant circuit in an accident with the refrigerant, clean the refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (air conditioner with refrigerant R134a, refrigerant circuit, Working with the air conditioner service station). Lubricate O-ring (H) with refrigerant oil before installing .If receiver (E) with bracket (G) was removed, install bracket (G) first and insert receiver (E) in the bracket (do not tighten bolts (D) for the moment).Make sure O-rings are seated correctly at connections of refrigerant lines (B, C).Observe the different tightening torques of the bolts. Even minor damage to the connections (e.g. a small scratch) could cause leakage.Ensure absolute cleanliness when working (even the slightest contamination, e.g. a single hair at the connections, could cause leakage).]
  3. Insert O-rings (H) in groove at respective connection.
  4. If fitted, check dowel pin at connections of refrigerant lines (B, C) for damage and correct seating.
  5. Insert refrigerant lines (B, C) in respective connection and tighten lightly with bolts (A).
  6. Insert refrigerant lines (B, C) in the retainers provided.
  7. Align receiver (E) so that refrigerant lines (B, C) are not under tension and do not make contact anywhere.
  8. Tighten bolts (D) to torque.
  9. Tighten bolts (A) to torque.
  10. Re-install removed components in reverse order.
  11. Evacuate and charge refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant circuit; Working with the air conditioner service station). [Note: If, for example, weighing the old and new receiver revealed that there was a certain amount of refrigerant oil in the old receiver, this amount can be added to the refrigerant circuit after evacuation using the air conditioner service station Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Renewing components of refrigerant circuit.]
  12. Start up air conditioner after charging refrigerant circuit . [Note: Also observe notes on starting up air conditioner after charging Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87General notes on air conditioning systems. Before using air conditioner after system has been re-charged.]
  13. Interrogate the event memory of E87 and erase any faults displayed in "“Guided Fault Finding”" mode.
  14. As a final step, check operation of heater and air conditioner.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
