Removing and installing rear spoiler — AUDI

Removing and installing rear spoiler on Audi: 11 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

The rear spoiler on the 2K0 and 2C0 platform codes listed below is bonded to the rear bumper cover rather than bolted, and the diffuser sits on it by adhesive and fasteners. Getting it off is a heat job: the diffuser and then the spoiler are warmed with a hot air blower, a removal wedge goes in between spoiler and bumper cover, and the spoiler is pulled away, with a craft knife through the adhesive bead where it will not let go. What decides the outcome is how much heat and patience the bond gets, because forcing it marks the bumper paint, and how cleanly the new double-sided tape goes on, with the film ends left reachable so they can be pulled once the spoiler is aligned.

11 steps

🧭 Before you start

Heat first, then separate: the diffuser comes away from its adhesive joint and fasteners before the spoiler itself is warmed, wedged off the bumper cover and, if needed, cut free along the adhesive bead. Installation reverses it with fresh double-sided tape: the diffuser is engaged on the spoiler, the protective film is peeled with its ends left outside, the spoiler is set on the bumper reinforcement, aligned, and then the film is pulled and the spoiler pressed home from the centre outwards. Even pressure from inside and outside seats the diffuser.

Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015); platform code 2C0

Don't miss

  • Warm the bonded area with the hot air blower before pulling; cold adhesive takes paint with it.
  • Use the removal wedge between spoiler and bumper cover; no excessive force.
  • Leave the ends of the tape's protective film reachable from outside before fitting the spoiler.
  • Align the spoiler on the bumper reinforcement before pulling the film; there is no second attempt.
  • Press the spoiler along the bond from the centre outwards; press the diffuser evenly from inside and outside.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
