  • Mark the arrangement of the coolant hoses (B, C) at V50(A).

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

TorqueFastener / step
1.5 Nm (1.1 lb-ft)Remove the bolts (D
7.5 Nm (5.5 lb-ft)Remove the bolts (F, G

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. Switch off the ignition.
  2. ⚠ The cooling system is pressurised. When the engine is warm, the coolant temperature may be in excess of 90°C. Dissipate pressure and allow to cool down before performing repairs. Dissipate the pressure in the coolant circuit by opening the cap at the coolant expansion tank 19Cooling system/coolant; Draining and adding coolant — Dissipate the pressure in the coolant circuit by opening the cap on the coolant expansion tank.
  3. Pinch off the coolant hoses (B, C) with hose clamps 3094 (or using commercially available pinch-off tools).
  4. Cover the area beneath the connections for the coolant hoses (B, C) to V50(A) with absorbent paper for example. 1. Unfasten the hose clamps (E) and detach the coolant hoses (B, C).
  2. Remove the bolts (F, G) (tightening torque 7.5 Nm in each case). — 7.5 Nm (5.5 lb-ft)
  3. Unplug the connector (F) at V50.
  4. Unfasten the holder (C) from the vehicle and remove.
  5. Unfasten the holder (C) from the vehicle and swivel carefully.
  6. Unplug the connector (F).
  7. Remove the bolts (D) (tightening torque 1.5 Nm). — 1.5 Nm (1.1 lb-ft)
  8. Detach the pump V50(A) from the holder (C). [Note: If the coolant circuit has been drained, a new pump V50 is not to be started up until the coolant circuit has been filled, as dry running could destroy the new pump.As only a small quantity of coolant escapes from the coolant circuit on removing V50 as described above, coolant runs into V50 following installation and after removing the hose clamps (additionally open the coolant expansion tank cap) and there is no danger of dry running.]
  9. Check the rubber bush (E) for correct positioning in the holder (C).
  10. Fill the coolant circuit before plugging in the connector at V50.
  11. Bleed the coolant circuit .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
