Removing and installing left aerial module R108: Audi A3

Step-by-step removing and installing left aerial module R108 for the Audi A3: 10 steps, 3 torque figures.

Left aerial module R108 on the A3 (8P) is mounted inside the rear lid and is reached by removing the bottom section of the rear lid trim. It is a short job, but the module serves aerial connections that run to the rear window, so the plugs deserve more attention than the fixings. With all electrical consumers switched off and the key out, every connector on the module is unplugged, taking particular care with the one leading to the rear window. The module is held by nut (3) and bolts (1) and (2), each 6 Nm on refit. Installation is the reverse. The one thing that decides whether the radio works afterwards is that rear window connector, reseated fully and undamaged.

🧭 Before you start

Switch off all electrical equipment, remove the key and take off the bottom rear lid trim. Unplug all connectors at R108, handling the rear window lead carefully. Remove nut (3) and bolts (1) and (2) and lift the module out. Refit in reverse, tightening the nut and bolts to 6 Nm and reconnecting every plug, then refit the trim.

Fits: Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012)

Don't miss

  • Take particular care with the connector leading to the rear window, on removal and refit.
  • Nut (3) and bolts (1) and (2): 6 Nm.
  • Switch off all electrical equipment and remove the key before unplugging anything.
  • General practice: check radio reception afterwards before the trim goes back on.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
