  1. Unscrew nut (1) and detach gearbox mounting from gearbox support.
  2. Measure distance (x) between gearbox mounting and subframe using a feeler gauge.
  3. Determine thickness of spacer shim (8) as follows: [Note: The exact spacer shim thickness required can be obtained by combining spacer shims of different thicknesses.Do not fit more than three spacer shims on each side.]
  4. Insert a bolt M12x100 (item 1) with attached nut (2) into the mounting hole behind the ATF oil pan on the gearbox.
  5. Apply lifting column of engine and gearbox jackV.A.G 1383 A to bolt head as illustrated.
  6. Use engine and gearbox jackV.A.G 1383 A to lift engine/gearbox assembly up slightly.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
