Removing and installing front seat backrest and seat pan - RS bucket seat — AUDI
Removing and installing front seat backrest and seat pan - RS bucket seat on Audi: 32 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
The RS bucket seat in the A4 (B8, 2007–2015) splits into a backrest and a seat pan, and this page covers separating them with the seat on the bench. The seat comes out of the car and is mounted on seat repair stand VAS 6136. Both side trims and the control unit come off, the seat heating connectors and the pneumatic hose are disconnected, and the wiring is moved clear. The Bowden cable for longitudinal adjustment is unhooked from its release lever, and the bolts at positions 1, 4 and 11, then 6 and 8, release the seat pan from the backrest. Getting it right comes down to the pneumatic hose and wiring being freed before anything is pulled, and every bolt going back in with locking fluid.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the seat, mount it on VAS 6136 and take off both side trims and the control unit. Unplug the heating connectors, disconnect the pneumatic hose, free the wiring and unhook the longitudinal adjustment Bowden cable. Remove bolts (1), (4) and (11), then (6) and (8), and separate backrest and seat pan; the adjustment lever and handle come off where needed. Refit all bolts with locking fluid, reconnect the hose, wiring and Bowden cable, and check adjustment works before the seat goes back in.
Fits: Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015)
Don't miss
- Insert all frame bolts with locking fluid on reassembly.
- Disconnect the pneumatic hose before separating the seat parts so it is not torn.
- Free the wiring harness from the seat frame completely before lifting the backrest away.
- Refit any cable tie cut on the pneumatic block harness.
- Check the longitudinal adjustment release works before refitting the seat.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
