Removing and installing exterior mirror: Audi Q7
Step-by-step removing and installing exterior mirror for the Audi Q7: 14 steps, 1 torque figure. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what.
This page covers removing an exterior mirror on the platform codes listed below, gathering a large number of mirror and door variants into one procedure. The mirror is wired through the door shell, so the front door trim comes off first, the mirror connectors are unplugged and the wiring is freed so the harness and its grommet can be pushed out through the door. Once the sealing plug and retaining bolt are out, the mirror lifts upwards off the door while the harness is guided out with it; on some versions the mirror base cover and seal also have to be unclipped. On refit the mirror engages in its mounting inside the door and the gap between mirror base and door skin is set with an adjuster screw, which is what makes the job look right.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the front door trim, unplug the mirror connectors and free the wiring. Push the grommet through the door shell, remove the bolt and lift the mirror upwards while feeding the harness out. Where applicable, remove the base bolts and unclip the seal and mirror base cover. Refit by engaging the mirror in its inner mounting, tighten the bolt, then check the gap to the outer door panel and correct it with the adjuster screw before locking it again.
Fits: Audi Q7 (4M, 2015–)
Don't miss
- Feed the harness and grommet through the door shell as the mirror lifts, so the wires are not pulled.
- Seat the grommet properly on refit to keep water out of the door.
- Check the gap between mirror base and outer door panel after fitting.
- Adjust the gap with the adjuster screw, then secure it again.
- Test mirror adjustment, folding and heating before refitting the door trim.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
