Removing and installing cover and padding for seat pan: Audi TT Mk1
Step-by-step removing and installing cover and padding for seat pan for the Audi TT Mk1: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Replacing the cover and padding on the seat pan for the platform codes listed below is bench work: the seat comes out and is mounted on holder VAS 6136, itself fixed to the engine and gearbox holder VAS 6095, so it can be turned and worked on. The cover panels over the belt openings are unbolted, the leather is released around those openings, and the velcro strips are undone so the backrest and seat paddings can come off. The tension spring is unhooked from the tensioning wires before the cover is removed. On refitting, the leather is bonded at the belt openings with double-sided adhesive strip, and the spring must be re-engaged under tension.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the seat and mount it on VAS 6136 on VAS 6095. Unbolt and remove the belt-opening cover panels, release the leather and velcro, take off the paddings and unhook the tension spring. Detach the seat pan cover. Refit by bonding the leather to the belt openings with double-sided adhesive strip, then tensioning the spring with pointed-nose pliers and engaging it on the tensioning wire.
Fits: Audi TT Mk1 (8N)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
