  • A second mechanic is required for the next step.
  • Position pressure plate (2) on centring pins (arrow C). The tips of the centring pins (arrow C) must be flush with the pressure plate.

📋 Procedure

  1. Remove clutch module .
  2. ⚠ Take care not to damage pressure plate and dual-mass flywheel.Pressure plate (1) must be compressed before removing or installing. If the pressure plate is not compressed, it will become distorted when the bolts (2) are slackened or tightened (causes clutch grab when driving off). The dual-mass flywheel (3) must rest only on the bearing washer (arrow A) when compressing the pressure plate (1) in the hydraulic press. If the dual-mass flywheel is supported on the flange for drive plate (arrow B) the flange will become distorted and the flywheel will thus be damaged. In this case, the dual-mass flywheel will have to be renewed. — Position the clutch module so that the thrust padVW 510 makes contact with the bearing washer (arrow A) in the dual-mass flywheel.
  3. Place the assembly tool T10254/3 on the spring tongues in the diaphragm of the pressure plate (1) and apply the press. [Note: A second mechanic is required for the next step.]
  4. Remove all 6 bolts (2) and release press.
  5. Remove pressure plate (1) and clutch plate.

  1. ⚠ Risk of damage to clutch plate (1) and pressure plate (2).The teeth (arrows A) on the clutch plate (1) must engage in the slots (arrows B).When the pressure plate (2) is in its proper position, the tips of the centring pins (arrow C) should be flush with the pressure plate. — Use centring mandrel T40171 to centralise clutch plate (1).
  2. Position pressure plate (2) on centring pins (arrow C). The tips of the centring pins (arrow C) must be flush with the pressure plate.
  3. ⚠ Take care not to damage dual-mass flywheel.
  4. Place assembly tool T10254/3 over centring mandrel T40171.
  5. Apply press until pressure plate (1) just makes contact with dual-mass flywheel (3)(arrows C). [Note: A second mechanic is required for the next step.]
  6. Screw in each of the 6 bolts (2) in succession and tighten to final torque. Tightening torque
  7. Release press.
  8. Install clutch module .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
