Removing and installing centre console trim (rear): Audi A6/A7 C7

Step-by-step removing and installing centre console trim (rear) for the Audi A6/A7 C7: 14 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

On the A6 and A7 C7 (platform code 4G, 2011–2018) and the other platform code listed below, the rear centre console trim comes out in layers, with both covers released from the top down using plastic tools. Hook T40207 goes between the louvres of the rear vent to engage at the side; the vent is worked out alternately from each side, unplugged and set aside. Behind it are bolts, then wedge T10383/1 unclips the sides of the first cover, which pulls rearwards off the console once its connectors are unplugged. The air duct is pressed down slightly after its catches are released, a bolt each side comes out, and the second cover is unclipped the same way. Last, bolts release the mounting for the cigarette lighter and socket. Working from the top and alternating sides keeps clips and louvres intact.

🧭 Before you start

The work starts at the rear vent: hook T40207 engages behind the louvres, the vent is pulled out alternately each side and unplugged. Bolts come out, the first cover is unclipped from the top with wedge T10383/1, detached rearwards and unplugged. With the air duct catches released and a bolt removed left and right, the second cover is unclipped the same way, and finally the bolts and mounting for the cigarette lighter and socket come off. Refitting is the reverse, with connectors reattached before each cover is clipped home.

Fits: Audi A6/A7 C7 (4G, 2011–2018); platform code 4X

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
