Removing and installing bumper cover - all vehicles except Audi RS 5 — AUDI
Removing and installing bumper cover - all vehicles except Audi RS 5 on Audi: 13 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
This is the rear bumper cover on the Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), all versions except the RS 5. The tail lights come out first because fixings sit behind them. If the car has parking aid, the connector at control unit J446 is unplugged, the harness is freed from the control unit bracket by cutting a cable tie, and the grommet is pushed through to the outside so the sender wiring leaves with the cover. Then a nut, the lower bolts, the bumper lock tensioning bolt turned anti-clockwise, and the side bolts on each side. The side sections are pulled off the side panels and the cover lifted away while the parking aid harness is fed out of the body opening. Losing track of that harness is how sensors stop working afterwards.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the tail lights, unplug the parking aid control unit connector, free the harness and push the grommet outward. Undo the nut, lower bolts, bumper lock tensioning bolt and side bolts, then pull the side sections off the side panels and remove the cover while feeding the parking aid harness out. Refit in reverse, reconnecting the control unit and refitting the tail lights.
Fits: Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
