Removing and installing bracket for seat trim (front): Audi Q7

Step-by-step removing and installing bracket for seat trim (front) for the Audi Q7: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

On the Audi Q7 (4M, 2015–) the front seat trim is held on a bracket that sits under a fair amount of seat hardware. The seat is unbolted and tipped back with its wiring still connected, which saves unplugging the harness, and then the seat function control unit, the pneumatic seat compressor and the front seat trim come off in turn. Two bolts and two coupling hooks hold the bracket, and it pulls out of its mountings towards the front. Installation is where care is needed: the bracket slides in so that every tab engages its retainer, otherwise the trim will sit badly and rattle. With the seat tilted on its wiring, support it so connectors and cables are not under strain while you work.

8 steps

🧭 Before you start

Unbolt the front seat and tilt it back with the wiring connected. Remove the seat control unit, pneumatic seat compressor and front seat trim, then the two bracket bolts. Disengage the coupling hooks and pull the bracket forwards out of its mountings. Slide the new bracket in with all tabs engaged in their retainers and reassemble in reverse.

Fits: Audi Q7 (4M, 2015–)

Don't miss

  • Leave seat wiring connected when tilting the seat back, and support it so harnesses are not strained.
  • Disengage both coupling hooks before pulling the bracket forwards.
  • All tabs must engage in their retainers when sliding the bracket in.
  • Refit control unit and compressor connectors fully seated before bolting the seat down.
  • Seat bolts are safety fasteners; tighten them correctly as general practice.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
