Removing and installing BOSE amplifier - Roadster: Audi TT Mk1

Step-by-step removing and installing BOSE amplifier - Roadster for the Audi TT Mk1: 9 steps, 2 torque figures.

On the Roadster version covered here (platform code 8N) the BOSE amplifier lives under the luggage compartment floor, behind the storage box, on a bracket that hooks into recesses at the bottom and is held by nuts at the top. With all consumers off and the key out, the floor lining and storage box come out, the amplifier connector is unplugged, the upper nuts are undone and the bracket swings down and lifts away with the amplifier still on it. The amplifier then comes off the bracket on its own nuts. It is a light job; the points that matter are switching everything off before unplugging the amplifier, and engaging the bracket properly in its lower recesses on refit so it does not rattle.

🧭 Before you start

Switch off all consumers, remove the key and take out the luggage compartment floor lining and storage box. Unplug the amplifier, remove the upper bracket nuts (5 Nm), swing the bracket down and lift it out, then separate amplifier and bracket (nuts 5 Nm). Refit in reverse, making sure the bracket is located in its lower recesses.

Fits: Audi TT Mk1 (8N)

Don't miss

  • Switch off all electrical consumers and remove the key before unplugging the amplifier.
  • Bracket nuts and amplifier nuts are both 5 Nm.
  • Seat the bracket in its lower recesses before tightening the top nuts.
  • Check the connector is fully latched and test the system before refitting the trim.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
