Removing and installing B-pillar trim (top) - Audi A6 Security — AUDI
Removing and installing B-pillar trim (top) - Audi A6 Security on Audi: 16 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
The upper B-pillar trim on the A6 C6 2004–2011 (4F) Security version sits over the curtain airbag and routes the front seat belt, so this is an airbag job and a belt job before it is a trim job. The airbag sign is unclipped and its bolt removed, the trim is released from the bottom edge with the removal wedge and swivelled inwards while it comes down, and then the outer belt anchorage on the front seat is removed so the belt can be threaded out of the trim. Installation reverses that, with the lugs engaged in the windscreen frame, the retaining pin seated in the belt height adjuster mounting, and the door seal lip folded back over. The curtain airbag must not be trapped. Belt and height adjuster are checked for free operation at the end.
🧭 Before you start
Removal: airbag sign off, bolt out, trim unclipped with the wedge from its bottom edge, swivelled inwards and pulled down, then the outer belt anchorage removed and the belt threaded out. Installation: belt threaded back in, anchorage refitted, trim lugs engaged in the windscreen frame, retaining pin into the height adjuster mounting, bottom clipped into the belt guide, bolt tightened, airbag sign clipped in and the door seal lip folded over. Final checks are the belt running smoothly and the height adjuster working.
Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)
Don't miss
- Curtain airbag safety precautions apply; keep the airbag clear of the trim on refitting.
- Outer belt anchorage on the seat must come off to thread the belt through the trim.
- Retaining pin (4) must engage mounting (3) at the belt height adjuster.
- Check belt operation and the height adjuster before handing the car back.
- Airbag sign clips back in; the car is not complete without it.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
