Removing and installing armrest — AUDI
Removing and installing armrest on Audi: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
The armrest on Audi models with the platform code listed below is part of the door trim assembly, and it only comes off once the door trim itself is off the door. With the trim on the bench the 2 bolts come out, the connector is unplugged, then the 8 bolts that hold the armrest to the trim are removed. The armrest is unclipped at its retaining tab and detached. The factory steps then take the cover off the underside of the armrest and unplug the second connector behind it. The job is simple but the bolt count is the thing to watch: all 8 must be out before any pull on the tab, or the trim backing cracks. Refitting is the reverse, with both connectors reconnected before the cover goes back.
🧭 Before you start
Door trim off first. On the trim, the 2 bolts are removed and the connector unplugged, then the 8 bolts holding the armrest, and the armrest is unclipped at its retaining tab and detached. The cover on the underside of the armrest is detached and the connector behind it unplugged. Installation is the reverse.
Fits: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 (8H)
Don't miss
- Door trim must be off before the armrest can be released.
- All 8 armrest bolts out before unclipping at the retaining tab.
- Unplug the connector before the armrest is pulled away from the trim.
- Underside cover comes off to reach the second connector.
- Lay the door trim face down on a padded surface so the clips and skin are not damaged.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
