Removing and installing amplifier R12 (Saloon): Audi A4 B6/B7

Step-by-step removing and installing amplifier R12 (Saloon) for the Audi A4 B6/B7: 6 steps, 1 torque figure.

Removing and refitting amplifier R12 in the A4 B6/B7 (8E) saloon. The amplifier sits behind the right-hand luggage compartment side trim. Before starting, switch off every electrical consumer and take the ignition key out, so nothing is live at the connector. Remove the side trim, unplug the electrical connector at the amplifier, then undo its bolts and lift the unit out. Refitting is the reverse, with the bolts tightened to 4 Nm. There is not much to it; the points that matter are working with everything switched off, refitting the trim without breaking its clips, and making sure the connector is fully home so the audio system works when you are done.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
