Removing and installing AMI (up to week 21/09): Audi Q7
Step-by-step removing and installing AMI (up to week 21/09) for the Audi Q7: 9 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
On the Q7 (2005–2015) built up to week 21/09, the AMI connection for external audio sources R199 sits in a mounting frame and is removed with the same release tools used for a radio. If the unit is being replaced, the Replacement function has to be selected in guided fault finding before anything is unplugged. With the ignition and all electrical equipment off and the key out, two release tools T10057 are pushed into the slots on R199 until they engage, with the pointed grip ends facing outwards, and the unit is drawn out of the frame. All connectors come off, and the MOST bus plug gets protective cap VAS 6223/9. The release tools are then freed by pressing the tabs. Protecting the MOST connector and running the replacement routine are what matter.
🧭 Before you start
Start the Replacement function in guided fault finding if the unit is being renewed, then switch everything off and remove the key. Insert two release tools T10057, pull R199 out of its frame and unplug all connectors, capping the MOST bus connector. Release the tools via the tabs. Plug the connectors back in and push R199 into the frame until it engages.
Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
