Performing adaption of throttle valve control part to engine control unit — AUDI
Performing adaption of throttle valve control part to engine control unit on Audi: factory workshop procedure for engines ADR, AJP.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
In order for the idling speed stabilisation to function, the engine control unit needs to know the stop positions of the throttle valve positioner (V60) and the potentiometer characteristics of the throttle valve positioner sender (G88) and throttle valve potentiometer (G69).
The learning process (adaption process) must be carried out if:
a new throttle valve control part has been fitted
a new engine control unit has been fitted
The learning process (adaption process) is carried out:
Automatically when the ignition is switched on once for at least 6 seconds without starting the engine or pressing the accelerator pedal.
By starting basic setting (function 04) Display Group 98 with the engine not running.

Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 (V.A.G 1552) and select engine electronics control unit with the "Address word" 01. When doing this the ignition must be switched on.

Indicated on display:
When the Q key is pressed the throttle valve positioner moves to Min., Max. and several intermediate positions, and the control unit records the various throttle valve angles in its non-volatile memory. The throttle valve then remains in the start position for a brief period before closing.

Indicated on display:
The adaption process for the throttle valve control part has been successfully completed.
If the adaption process is interrupted by the control unit, the reason could be one of the following:
The throttle valve cannot be completely closed (e.g. because it is dirty).
Accelerator cable incorrectly adjusted.
Battery voltage too low.
Throttle valve control part or wiring is defective.
The engine has been started or the accelerator pedal has been depressed during the adaption process.
After an interruption the fault "Basic setting not completed, fault in basic setting" is stored in fault memory. When next switching on ignition the basic setting is automatically performed again.
End the engine basic setting by pressing the⇒ key.
Press keys 0 and 6 for the "End data transfer" function and confirm input with the Q key.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
