Lifting suspension to normal level (vehicles with air suspension) — AUDI
Lifting suspension to normal level (vehicles with air suspension) on Audi: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi Q7 (4M, 2015–)
Don't miss
- Dimension (a) = normal level; depends on the running gear installed on the vehicle .This measurement must be taken with the suspension at the normal level .
- Take care not to scratch side member.
- The bolts/nuts on the relevant suspension mountings must not be tightened until the distance between the wheel centre and the lower edge of the wing/wheel arch is the same as the distance measured before commencing work.
- Risk of accident!Do not raise or lower vehicle when engine and gearbox jack is under vehicle.Do not leave engine and gearbox jack under vehicle for longer than necessary. — Tighten relevant bolts/nuts.
📋 Procedure
- Before commencing work, use measuring tape or similar to measure dimension (a) from wheel centre to lower edge of wing/wheel housing. [Note: Dimension (a) = normal level; depends on the running gear installed on the vehicle .This measurement must be taken with the suspension at the normal level .]
- Make a note of the measured value. This will be needed when tightening the bolts and/or nuts on the suspension.
- ⚠ The vehicle could slip off the lifting platform - risk of accident! The spring force of the air suspension remains unchanged when the vehicle is lifted onto the lifting platform. In order to adjust the suspension to the normal level, the spring force of the air suspension must be dissipated completely by bleeding the system. — Place a piece of rubber foam (1) or similar between side member and tensioning strap T10038 and tighten tensioning strap T10038. [Note: Take care not to scratch side member.]
- Bleed air spring system .
- Remove wheel .
- Turn wheel hub until one of the wheel bolt holes is at the top.
- ⚠ Risk of irreparable damage to wheel bearing when screwing in wheel bolt. The wheel bolt must be fitted with a washer to prevent it from pressing against the wheel bearing when it is installed. — Attach support T10149 to wheel hub using wheel bolt (2) (with a washer (1) fitted in between). [Note: The bolts/nuts on the relevant suspension mountings must not be tightened until the distance between the wheel centre and the lower edge of the wing/wheel arch is the same as the distance measured before commencing work.]
- Insert support T10149 in engine/gearbox jackVAS 6931 and lift wheel bearing housing until dimension (a) is attained.
- ⚠ Risk of accident!Do not raise or lower vehicle when engine and gearbox jack is under vehicle.Do not leave engine and gearbox jack under vehicle for longer than necessary. — Tighten relevant bolts/nuts.
- Lower wheel bearing housing.
- Move engine and gearbox jackVAS 6931 aside.
- Detach support T10149.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
