  • Renewed: self-locking nuts

Don't miss

  • Before installing gearbox, remove residue from threaded holes for engine/gearbox bolts in cylinder block using a thread tap.
  • There is only one inspection hole on the circumference; turn the dual-mass flywheel accordingly.
  • Check whether aluminium bolts securing engine to gearbox can be reused; if so, apply marking .
  • The following step is necessary to ensure that the clutch module is straight and that it makes even contact with the drive plate.
  • Use ring spanner insert AF 16V.A.G 1332/14 to tighten bolts.

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

TorqueFastener / step
2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft)Hand-tighten first bolt (arrow
23 Nm (17 lb-ft)Tighten bolts (1, 2, 3)
9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)Tighten earth stud (1)
9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)Tighten nut (arrow)

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. Tighten earth stud (1) to 9 Nm. — 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)
  2. Tighten nut (arrow) to 9 Nm. [Note: Renew the bolts tightened with specified tightening angle.Renew self-locking nuts and bolts as well as seals, gaskets and O-rings.On vehicles with dual clutch gearbox 0B5, a needle bearing is fitted in the drive plate. Before installing, check that the needle bearing is fitted. Removing and installing needle bearing in drive plate (pressing in and out) .Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before assembly.Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) Electronic parts catalogue. To ensure that the air hoses can be properly secured at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of used hose clips before installing.Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing.] — 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)
  3. Install engine supports and engine mountings .
  4. Install coolant pipe (bottom right) .
  5. Hold ATF lines in installation position when joining engine and subframe.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
