Filling up ATF, 0BE, 0BF — AUDI
Filling up ATF, 0BE, 0BF on Audi: 20 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Topping up the ATF in the 0BE and 0BF rear final drives is done through the inspection plug on the left side of the rear differential, marked ATF on the housing, using a charging device that fills by gravity. It applies across a wide range including the A4 B8 (2007–2015), A5 (2007–2016), A5 Cabriolet, Q5 (2008–2017), A6/A7 C7 (2011–2018) and A8 D4, plus the other platform codes listed below. The adapter is screwed into the plug hole, the hose routed above the left drive shaft, and with the car lowered the container is held up and the valve opened until the level is correct. The diagnostic tester then runs the adding-ATF function. Use only the specified ATF from a clean charging device, and fit a new plug.
🧭 Before you start
Raise the car, remove the ATF inspection plug and fit the charging device adapter and elbow, routing the hose above the left drive shaft. Lower the car, fit the container and open the valve to fill. Raise again, let excess fluid return, remove the device and screw the plug in hand-tight. Run the adding-ATF function with the diagnostic tester, repeating the fill if air is detected, then fit and tighten a new plug.
Fits: Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017), Audi A5 Cabriolet (8F), Audi A8 D4 (4H, 2010–2017), Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015), Audi A6/A7 C7 (4G, 2011–2018); platform codes 83, 4X
Don't miss
- Use only the specified ATF; other lubricants cause malfunction or failure of the final drive.
- The charging device must be clean and never mixed with other oil types.
- Make sure the valve is closed before screwing the oil container on.
- Repeat filling if the adding-ATF function reports air still in the system.
- Fit a new ATF inspection plug at the end.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
