Connecting fault reader V.A.G 1551 and selecting functions — AUDI
Connecting fault reader V.A.G 1551 and selecting functions on Audi: factory workshop procedure for engines ADP, ADR, AEB.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
Notes:
Vehicle systems tester V.A.G 1552 can also be used instead of fault reader V.A.G 1551.
The main programme of operating and display unit is switched off during self-diagnosis. No control cycle is carried out =>Page
01-6
.
On vehicles with stationary heater, it is also possible to interrogate the fault memory with stationary heater operating.
From software status D04 it is possible to alter the air flow in stationary heater mode (start always in position "Def" and "22 oC").
Vehicles with 6- and 8-cylinder engine 07.95 ▸ are equipped with a Nippondenso compressor (phased introduction). This compressor does not have a compressor speed sender -G111. In the event of a stiff compressor, the magnetic clutch is disengaged by an overheating cut-out in the magnetic clutch's solenoid.
Requirements:
Supply voltage of electrical system OK
All fuses OK:
=> "Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and fitting locations" binder
Start the engine.
Press the "AUTO" button of operating and display unit -E87.
Drive the vehicle a few metres at walking speed.
Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 with diagnostic cable V.A.G 1551/1 to diagnostic sockets as follows:
Remove cover of auxiliary relay carrier l in left of plenum chamber.
Plug in black connector to black diagnostic socket.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
