Checking pressure container — AUDI
Checking pressure container on Audi: 15 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: platform code 4A
- Opens: power steering fluid
- Renewed: both spring cylinders
Don't miss
- The pressure at which the pointer stops dropping slowly and drops abruptly to 0 bar is the charge pressure of the pressure container.Specification: 15 ... 25 bar
- If the charge pressure is close to the minimum pressure (15 bar), e.g. left pressure container 15 bar and right pressure container 16.5 bar, it is advisable to replace both spring cylinders.
📋 Procedure
- Detach the dust cap from the bleed screw.
- Attach the bleed hose of the self-levelling suspension system testerV.A.G 1354 to the bleed screw.
- Open the bleed screw and collect the hydraulic fluid emerging with a suitable vessel.
- Close the bleed screw at the connector.
- Detach the bleed hose from the bleed screw of the connector and attach to the bleed screw of the pressure tester.
- Unscrew the pipe at the left pressure container and connect up the self-levelling suspension system testerV.A.G 1354.
- Unscrew the linkage of the control valve at the rear axle (arrow).
- Move the linkage in the direction of travel until it is horizontal.
- Leave the engine idling.
- Observe the reading on the pressure gauge and switch off the ignition at approx. 30 bar.
- Carefully open the bleed screw of the self-levelling suspension system testerV.A.G 1354 until the pressure gauge pointer slowly drops.
- Use a suitable vessel to collect the hydraulic fluid emerging. [Note: The pressure at which the pointer stops dropping slowly and drops abruptly to 0 bar is the charge pressure of the pressure container.Specification: 15 ... 25 bar]
- Unscrew the pipe at the right pressure container and connect up the self-levelling suspension system testerV.A.G 1354.
- Further testing is the same as for the right pressure container.
- Conclude by attaching the dust cap to the bleed screw at the connector and checking the hydraulic fluid level with the vehicle unladen; top up if necessary . [Note: If the charge pressure is close to the minimum pressure (15 bar), e.g. left pressure container 15 bar and right pressure container 16.5 bar, it is advisable to replace both spring cylinders.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
