🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi TT Mk1 (8N)
- Renewed: engine control unit removing
Don't miss
- The point at which the engine control unit switches the lambda probe heating on and off can be observed in display zone 2 of "“measured value block 041”".
- Connect 121-pin adapter cableV.A.G 1598/31 (test box) to wiring harness to engine control unit, but do not connect actual engine control unit .

📋 Procedure
- Unplug 6-pin connector (black) to lambda probe G39 (upstream of catalytic converter).
- Connect up multimeter (resistance measuring range) between contacts (3) and (4).
- Replace lambda probe upstream of catalytic converter.
- Check power supply of lambda probe heating.
- Connect up multimeter (voltage measuring range) between contacts (3) and (4).
- Start engine. [Note: The point at which the engine control unit switches the lambda probe heating on and off can be observed in display zone 2 of "“measured value block 041”".]
- Connect up multimeter (voltage measuring range) between contact (3) (positive) and earth.
- Briefly operate starter.
- Use current flow diagram to check wiring from contact (3) of connector via fuse to fuel pump relay for open circuit.
- Connect up multimeter (voltage measuring range) between contact (4) (engine control unit switched earth connection) and battery positive.
- Start engine. [Note: The point at which the engine control unit switches the lambda probe heating on and off can be observed in display zone 2 of "“measured value block 041”".]
- Switch off ignition.
- Connect 121-pin adapter cableV.A.G 1598/31 (test box) to wiring harness to engine control unit, but do not connect actual engine control unit .
- Check for open circuit in the following wiring:
- Repair wiring if necessary.
- Replace engine control unit Removing and installing engine control unit without protective housing or Removing and installing engine control unit with protective housing.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
