Checking delivery pressure of power steering pump: Audi TT Mk1

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi TT Mk1 (8N)

• Special tools named: 3094, V.A.G 1402
• Renewed: pump, steering gear

📋 Procedure

1. Clamp off return line with hose clamp 3094.
2. Remove noise insulation tray.
3. Clamp off suction line with hose clamp 3094.
4. Place drip tray underneath vehicle.
5. Disconnect pressure line from pump.

6. Fit adapter (1).
7. Connect pressure gauge V.A.G 1402.
8. Detach hose clamps 3094 from suction and return lines.
9. Start engine and, if necessary, top up fluid level in reservoir.
10. Turn steering wheel approx. 10 times from lock to lock.
11. Now check delivery pressure.
12. With engine idling, close shutoff valve (not longer than 5 seconds) and take pressure reading. [Note: Renew the pump if the reading is higher or lower than specified:Removing and installing power steering pump (vehicles with bottom-mounted power steering pump) .Always check steering system for leaks if fluid level is low in reservoir.If leakage is visible at steering pinion, first check pipes and pipe connections for leaks. Tighten and wipe dry if necessary.Renew steering gear if leakage is found at steering pinion seal or at rack seal in steering gear housing.To check steering rack seals, loosen hose clip on boot and push back boot.]
