📋 Procedure

Checking cooling output of air conditioner (rear)
Note
If there are only problems with the evaporator in the rear air conditioning unit on a vehicle with two evaporators, start by performing the cooling output test at the front air conditioner
Chapter
. If the front cooling output is OK, check the cooling output of the rear air conditioner. If the cooling output test for the rear air conditioner reveals that the output is insufficient and the cause of the problem cannot initially be found, check the pipe connection between the problematic evaporator and the outlet of the pipe connection at the refrigerant pipe junction in the front left wheel housing (e.g. for cross-sectional constriction). If no fault is found, the vehicle is to be taken to a workshop equipped with the necessary tools where the work can be performed by appropriately qualified personnel (there is a fault in the refrigerant circuit)

General information on air conditioner
(air conditioner with refrigerant R134a, general information on air conditioner).
There is no sender in the rear air conditioning unit for measuring the temperature of the air downstream of the evaporator. The compressor output is therefore only regulated by way of the measured value of the
evaporator output temperature sender

installed in the front air conditioning unit. Under certain unfavourable conditions, the temperature set at the rear air conditioning unit may not be attained in normal control mode, although the air conditioner is OK. Thus, for example, in the case of an air conditioner for which the specified outflow temperature has already been attained in the front air conditioning unit and maximum cooling output is requested at the rear air conditioner, the rear outflow temperature may be several °C higher than if a high cooling output is requested at the front air conditioner (if applicable, increase the front cooling output by way of the front setting).

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
