Assembling output shaft for 1st - 4th gear, from gearbox manufacturing date 26 10 9 to 24 05 0 on Audi: 28 steps.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

28 steps

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012), Audi TT Mk2 (8J, 2006–2014)

  • Special tools named: feeler gauge
  • Renewed: if necessary

Don't miss

  • Insert locking pieces and install springs offset at 120°. Angled end of spring must locate in hollow locking piece.
  • Pressing on tapered roller bearing inner race on gearbox housing end Determining thickness of circlip for tapered roller bearing inner race

📋 Procedure

  1. Place inner ring (1) onto cone of selector gear.
  2. Press outer ring (2) against cone of inner ring. Measure gap (a) with feeler gauge at 3 points spaced 120° apart.
  3. Note down mean value.
  4. Check inner friction surface of synchro-ring (arrow) for grooves or radial scoring and renew if necessary.
  5. Place inner ring, outer ring and synchro-ring onto cone of selector gear.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
