C2100 — Battery voltage low
Documented by: CHRYSLER
C2100 is stored when the ECU sees signal too low on charging system. That describes how the circuit is behaving, not which part has failed — the wiring, the connector and the component itself can all produce it, which is why the checks below start with the cheapest.
Common causes
The cause is almost always one of a few things. Here they are — C2100 rarely comes from anything outside this list:
- High resistance in the supply or ground path, dragging the signal down
- Corroded connector adding resistance the module reads as a low reading
- Sensor drifted out of tolerance with age
- Partial short to ground somewhere in the signal line
Where to start
In the order a sensible mechanic would work — the cheap checks first, the expensive replacements only after:
- Read the live value on a scanner and compare with a known-good reading
- Clean and re-seat the connector, then re-test before replacing anything
- Check the ground point for that circuit — a poor ground causes this far more often than a bad sensor
- Measure the sensor against specification with the connector back-probed
- Replace the sensor only once the wiring and ground have been ruled out
That is what holds for C2100 in general. From here it depends on your engine — tell me which car it is and what it does, and I will give you the steps for it: real procedures, torque figures and diagrams instead of general advice.
Why TorqFix for your car?

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
The same code can mean different things on different makes. Match the meaning to your make before acting on it.
